Reiki is a universal healing energy. It facilitates a person’s or animal’s healing by enhancing the body’s energy to help the natural healing process along. Most dogs and people enjoy receiving the energy.
It has become fairly common for people to get reiki treatments, often at a spa. However, it is not very common to find someone who gives reiki treatments to animals, but that is one of Laurie’s specialties as a Reiki Master Teacher.
Reiki can often be a good complement to the work in the water because most dogs enjoy the soothing feel of the reiki energy following a relaxing swim. Reiki can be especially good for dogs with chronic pain like arthritis or post-surgical pain. Reiki is never an appropriate substitute for seeking veterinary care and medical treatement, however. You can read more about Reiki's benefits for dogs at the Animal Reiki Source.
Laurie does reiki sessions in connection with swim sessions, or as a stand alone treatment either at the pool or in your home. She also does reiki sessions for people.
